I cried making this post, I hope you enjoy it

When people ask how I got into photography, the answer goes back much further than most people expect.
My dad used to take photos of everything.
Not just birthdays or big milestones. I mean everything. My sister and I brushing our teeth. Sitting at the kitchen table. Even moments that felt completely ordinary at the time.
Back then, I probably didn’t think much of it.
It was just Dad with the camera again.
The funny thing is, I don’t actually have most of those photos anymore. It’s a long family story. But I still remember them clearly in my head.
And today I see photography very differently.
Photos are tiny time capsules, moments that would disappear if they weren’t captured. They have a way of bringing you right back to a place in time. The feeling of a moment. The people who were there.
And sometimes they are the only thing you have left when time has moved on and people are gone.
Nothing will ever replace having my dad around. But I am incredibly grateful for the photos I do have of him.
I just wish I had more.
My dad actually bought me my first camera.
I remember wanting it because I wanted to take photos of the moon.
Turns out the moon is actually pretty hard to photograph when you are a kid with a basic camera. So that did not really work out the way I imagined.
But what did happen is I started taking photos of everything else.
Friends. Family. The most ordinary moments you could imagine. People laughing, sitting around, just living life.
Without even realizing it, I started doing exactly what my dad used to do.
My mom helped too. She bought me programs and helped me figure out how to use them. I spent hours learning how to edit and experimenting with photos.
Looking back, photography was not something I suddenly discovered later in life.
It was always there. I have been documenting life for as long as I can remember.
Over the years I have realized that a lot of how I remember my life is connected to photographs.
When I see an image from years ago, I do not just see the photo.
I remember the moment.
What was happening.
What people were saying.
How I felt.
Without that image, many of those memories would probably be gone.
It is one of the reasons I love the memory features on our phones now. Sometimes a photo pops up from years ago and suddenly I am right back in that exact moment.
Photos have a way of bringing time back. That is why I believe photography is one of the most meaningful things you can invest in.
Photos are not just something you post online for a week.
They become part of your history.
They are what you look back on years later when life has changed. When people have grown. When moments you did not realize were important suddenly become the ones you miss the most.
Forty years from now you will not look the same. Your life will be different. The people around you will have changed too.
But the photographs will still be there.
Your maternity photos.
Your engagement.
Your wedding day.
Your family when your kids were little.
Even the season of life when you were building something you cared about, your business, your ideas, your brand.
These are moments you only live once.
When I photograph someone, I do not see it as just another session.
I see it as documenting a piece of someone’s life.
Whether that is a growing family, a couple starting their future together, or an entrepreneur building something meaningful.
That is why I take the time to guide my clients through the process and create an experience where you can truly enjoy the moment while it is happening.
Because the goal is not just to create photos that look good today.
It is to create images you will still be grateful for years from now.
When you choose a photographer, you are trusting someone with moments that will matter for the rest of your life.
That is something I never take lightly.
The moments that shape your life deserve to be remembered.
Do not let them pass without documenting them.
